Packed Lunches at Greystones
At school we teach our pupils about balanced diets and healthy food choices for humans. We are fortunate that these approaches are shared and supported by many of our families.
One of our longstanding school rules is that sweets (haribos, lollipops, chews, gum, laces etc) may not be brought to school either for snack time or as part of a packed lunch. This avoids children experiencing short-lived sugar highs which affect learning negatively, and supports good teeth health.
Children may bring other items to school as part of a balanced packed lunch (e.g. an occasional chocolate biscuit, a bun, a packet of crisps). However, these ‘treat’ items are not to be eaten at snacktime (which is either before or during morning playtime). We also do not recommend children have these in school every day.
We recommend families look at the Eat Smart Sheffield Guidance when looking for ideas for their child's packed lunch here
